I’m rounding up all of the best housewarming gifts to bring over to a new home and say congratulations. If you have a loved one who has recently bought or moved into a new home, they deserve a treat. Here are a few fun ideas for gifts that will add something special to their new space.
personalized wine bottles
If you want to do something extra special, order a customized hand painted bottle of wine. You can feature the address of their new home on the bottle or a hand painted image of the house. You could also add the date they moved in for an extra-special touch. I bought a hand painted bottle of Veuve Clicquot for my husband as a wedding gift (above), and it came out beautifully. Sofia at Paper Gems Co takes custom orders for all types of occasions. I love this for a housewarming gift because it is a way to commemorate a special date, milestone, the address of a new home, or any other personal detail on the bottle. They could enjoy the bottle, or do what I do and keep it as decor on our bar cart. Sofia is super talented and can paint pretty much anything you give her.
garden inspired
A fresh bouquet of flowers is always a home run, but for a housewarming gift I like the idea of giving something that lasts a bit longer and contributes to the aesthetic of the new home. I love the Succulents from Lula’s Garden, and they can ship from far too! Roger’s Garden has the most beautiful orchids that last a long time. There are also some great places that create arrangements from preserved roses that last about a year. Some suggestions –
- Roger’s Garden (orchid and garden basket in pics above are from here)
- Lula’s Garden (succulents pictured above)
- Venus Et Fleur
- Avell Home (you have to message them on Instagram to place an order)
home fragrance & soaps
Scents are super nostalgic and have the power to bring back happy memories from the past, I think candles and diffusers make great housewarming gifts.
So many home fragrance products also add to the aesthetic of the new home. They can fill the living spaces of the house with delicious scents that complement the decor and make everyone feel at home. Make sure when the wax runs out you rinse out the remaining debris and turn these into mini vases to hold your flowers! I tried this with my Wildwood Candle below.

other housewarming gift ideas
The Little Market has fantastic gifts for the home, all made by female artisans.
For a really fun and creative housewarming gift you could buy a framable vintage menu from Vintage Menu Art. We bought a few of these at the farmer’s market (pictured above). If you are a local, they are at the Playa Vista farmer’s market most Saturdays. You could also order them online. Each menu is a real menu that was used by a restaurant in the past. They all have unique stories about the restaurant included. You can pick a menu from a specific city or pick the one that has a story that speaks to you the most.
You could also go with a few coffee table book options. Buy Amber Lewis’ book Made for Living (pictured below) and in addition to looking great on a coffee or side table, it will also teach the new homeowner how to decorate their house. Win-win!
